This 3-day expedition is designed for beginners and motivated adventurers who want to build real-world mountain skills while summiting one of the most beautiful volcanoes in North America.
You’ll learn and apply:
-Snow travel & footwork
-Self-arrest & basic ice axe use
-Glacier navigation & rope team travel
-Snow camping skills
All while climbing the stunning Easton Glacier or Squak Glacier routes to Baker’s 10,781 ft summit.
Day 1 – Gear Check, Approach & Camp Setup
We’ll meet in Sedro-Woolley for a gear check, trip overview, and last-minute prep before driving to the trailhead. From there, we hike into base camp with glacier views all around. Once settled in, we’ll cover basic snow skills like ice axe use, foundational footwork, and camp systems to prepare for summit day.
Day 2 – Summit Day
We’ll wake well before dawn for an alpine start to climb Mount Baker (10,781 ft) via the Easton Glacier or Squak Glacier. Moving as a rope team, you’ll apply your snow travel skills while taking in sunrise over the North Cascades. After celebrating on the summit, we’ll descend safely back to camp for a well-earned rest.
Day 3 – Descend & Celebrate
We’ll enjoy a relaxed morning at camp before packing up and descending to the trailhead. We’ll wrap up with a victory meal in town to celebrate your new skills, your summit, and your next mountain goals.
