Gym to Crag to Multi-Pitch Clinic
Intro to Outdoor Climbing: From Gym to Crag
Ready to take your climbing outside? This trip is designed for gym climbers who are ready to make the leap to real rock—but want to do it right. Over the course of our time together, we’ll cover everything you need to become a confident, capable outdoor climber and a solid member of any crag crew.
You’ll learn how to pick routes and navigate using modern apps and guidebooks, belay safely, rappel, clean anchors, and tie essential knots and hitches. We’ll dive into the basics of anchor building and even cover simple rope rescue skills like escaping the belay—because self-sufficiency is part of being a good partner. We’ll also practice effective communication, explore climbing movement on natural rock, and go over Leave No Trace principles (plus, yes—we’ll talk crag snacks too).
By the end, you won’t just know how to climb outside—you’ll understand what it means to be a reliable, respectful teammate in the larger climbing community. You may not be ready to lead or set routes YET, but you’ll be ready to show up and hold your own.
